one show that i always look forward to seeing at new york fashion week is rag & bone— there is seriously nothing better than the
anticipation of a new season. marcus wainwright and david neville always leave me thinking “wow. somehow they just managed to reinvent the lineup, all while remaining true to their
aesthetic.” fantastic. watching the model run through before
everyone arrived at the show was so special; seeing how the production team works together, making sure
all of the models stop walking at the same time on the runway, to a stack of
perfectly lined up show programs. . . the true beauty is in the
details.
this season rag & bone pulled out all of the stops, but
the most memorable takeaway for me personally was the finale. OMG. closing the show with it girl joan smalls sporting a custom “JOAN”
varsity jacket [fresh off her sexy cameo in queen b's “yonce” video,
nonetheless]? jaw dropping. i was also really into the paint splatter that was sprinkled throughout. the entire collection was so powerful, cool, and playful—just
like the rag & bone girl we all know and love.

revlon’s global artistic director, gucci westman spoke about
her vision for the makeup being “a little bit tom-boyish.” the look was focused on a clean, but
slightly punk vibe. using the revlon colorstay liquid eye pen in black, the strongly lined eyeliner [that extends
straight out] added an edge and a toughness. she also pulled out her trusty skinlights for pretty,
luminous skin. gucci said that she
didn’t want it to feel too fixed, almost as if it was “last night’s makeup.” jin soon covered nails this season, and she kept them simple and clean,
featuring revlon longwear nail enamel in the hue "checkmate."

the hair was executed by mr. paul hanlon for schwarzkopf—he went for a street, urban, deconstructed feel to the hair that was taken way off
the face. to recreate this “urban
sports knot,” you gather hair at the nape of the neck and tie strands in a
knot, leaving some pieces out. follow up by working in a matte gum paste into the hair [around the face] to add shine
and contrast.
