TL tutorial : loose waves.

raise your hand if messy, natural waves make your heart pitter patter. . . yeah, me too.  it's a look we spy over and over again on runways {'ello Cynthia Steffe + Thakoon s/s 2011}, supermodels {hey giselle + heidi}, celebrities {bonjour kate hudson + olivia palermo + SJP + jessica alba}. just to name a few.

. . . of course we can't forget our newest oscar winning royalty, miss. natalie portman, who also loves a good glam wave:

remember this post when i promised to share the holy grail of bed head waves with you?  well, dear friends, today is that day {if you can bear my 5 minute tutorial}!

the mentioned prep tools you'll always catch me using:
thickening spray, buy here  //  sea salt texturizing spray, buy here
are you excited to give it a shot?  the key is a messy // natural bend so don't be too hard on yourself to make it perfect!

yours truly-

ps: click here for an example of the said "doo-dad" from the video, aka clipless curling iron.

  1. You are adorable and I've never known how to get those sexy, cute beach waves and now I do-- just in time for Spring.

    : ) Thank you, Anna!

  3. I absolutely love curling my hair, and I've been trying to figure out a way to get waves instead of just tight curls! I'll have to try this out and post pictures if it works on my short hair. :p

  4. My hair stylist (fabulous Jimmy) taught me this and I love it!! Wanna know a little trick? If you don't wanna spend the $$ on the "doo-dad" you can just use a phillips head screw driver (most boys have one and each girl SHOULD) and remove the clamp. I did it to mine and just saved the pieces in a pastic baggy in case I want to put it back on. It will give your thumb a little break from holding the clamp open :)

  5. I'm definitely trying this. My hair doesn't exactly qualify as a bob, now that I'm growing it out, but I think it will be cute on my short-ish hair. I'll be sure to let you see the results.
