NYFW backstage beauty: oscar de la renta.

rag & bone, preen, oscar de la renta, and vivienne tam;  these were the revlon-sponsored shows in which i was so graciously asked to cover backstage for fashion week.  after the daunting task of figuring out what to wear for an event as monumental as Oscar {see details here}, i cabbed over to the unmarked building on 42nd where the show was being hosted.  greeted in the building lobby with a backstage pass {that i'll forever treasure}, i then shared an elevator to the 25th floor with two models chatting about how hungover and exhausted they were.  i nervously placed the pass around my neck and felt more at ease, as if my being there wasn't just a huge mistake.  the elevator doors opened and we landed on an industrial floor that was raw and unfinished.  while not at all what i had envisioned, it was beautiful.  the walls were painted bright white, and natural light flushed the backstage space completely.  once i navigated over to my revlon contact, she handed me a beauty sheet with details covering the look and casually asked "would you like to interview Gucci?"  oh-em-gee.  Gucci Westman. . .

. . . with no time to overthink, i quickly replied "of course!" and followed her over to Gucci's corner station.  the woman of the hour was hard at work on a look, while eloquently offering up charming interview answers {and looking beautiful} all at once.  somehow her focus was never lost, even though she was surrounded by numerous photographers, recorders, videographers:

the makeup at her station was really orderly, so that anything she may need could be snagged at a moment's notice.  below, her assistant tidies up a gloss kit:

the focal point of the preppy school girl look were the lashes, which were played up with revlon's PhotoReady 3D Volume Mascara in black.  the cheeks were then brightened with a gorgeous pink cream blush called Flushed and the lips were finished with a soft pink.  the Oscar de la Renta collection was quite feminine, playful, and unapologetically girlie so i felt the makeup really suited the overall vibe of the show.  here are a few professional shots from T Magazine:

next, i'll be covering backstage hair + nails!

  12. Good day! I know this is kinda off topic but I was
wondering which blog platform are you using for this site? I'm getting fed up of Wordpress because I've
had problems with hackers and I'm looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
