NYFW: Rachel Zoe Fall 2012.

even the security for access to the elevators at rachel zoe was so tight, we had printed photo ID on our name badges--  legit, right?  once we reached our floor, the showroom was an absolute dream.  imagine lots of clear glass, white florals, crisp decor, and natural light pouring into every corner.  basically, everything you would think to associate with the RZ brand.  while browsing the accessories, i spotted two familiar faces from the blogging community that i couldn't wait to meet; alicia and blair!  after chatting with them, i floated around the room taking photos of the newly unveiled collection {+ majorly lusting over the faux fur pieces}.  after "oohing and ahhing" i finally mustered up the guts to introduce myself to the vice president of RZ, mandana dayani.  while we only spoke for a few moments, she left quite the impression-- she was gracious, warm, intelligent, and {so} beautiful!  it's hard to find anything more inspiring than a businesswoman that can juggle all traits.

. . . while still talking with mandana, rachel and rodger walked in.  {insert minor freak out}  she says to me "rachel just got here.  would you like to meet her?"  like a little duckling, i followed.  before i know it we are standing in a tight circle of four;  rachel, rodger, mandana, and anna.  we make introductions and then i did something pretty fantastic:

rachel zoe:  hi, i'm rachel.
yours truly:  hi, i'm anna.  your showroom smells wonderful!

{HUH? *#*@*%*$*}

the flowers.  the flowers.  they really did smell great.  my stepdad has a flower farm, so i guess i decided to think in flowers or something??  i don't know.  i {believe i} recovered by saying something about how "smart and inspiring the show was," but it was pretty touch and go there for a minute.

all silliness aside, the collection truly was a masterpiece.  i loved the playful combination of color {i.e. mustard + plum} and crazy opulent textures {i.e. fur, lace, velvet, leather, sequins}.  naturally the styling was impeccable for every look, but here are a few of my favorites:
